I believe we now have a thinking, conscientious person who is deliberately trying to fix things and inspiring the best minds to help move us forward. I feel good about things now. I hope people do everything possible to help the new president, not place road blocks. We're still just three weeks from being a third world country at any time if things keep going as they are. This was a good election and the result was what we needed. We need smart, open, creative people working for us and Obama is that and can attract that. And wants those people working with him. Let's pray this works.

RAH!

I always go to vote in the morning so I can wear my "I Voted Today" sticker all day. This is partly because stickers are cool, but also because of the whole being-a-role-model thing. Lucas didn't have school today, so he wasn't with me this morning, but whenever he is, I take him with me. If nothing else, he's absorbing that this is something I think is important and worth making a priority of in my day. (He does have an opinion this year, though. He's been an Obama guy for MONTHS, even before the primary.)

That's okay. We might as well learn the lessons we can from the campaign.

The problem with the hot peppers is they're giving me ten or so a week, and one or half of one is plenty to use in most recipes. I did freeze a bunch yesterday, so I'll have them for the winter.

One thing I really like to do with hot peppers is put a whole one in soup stock. It adds some flavor and kick and is pretty much THE perfect thing when you have a cold, as the combination of soup and spicy clears out your sinuses completely. Plus you can actually taste it when you have a stuffy nose.

I was actually thinking of experimenting with some hot peppers myself lately. I'm not much into hot and spicy food, but a tiny bit can add some flavour without being overwhelming.

Okay, that doesn't really answer your question about what to do with them. Sorry, I was pulling a Palin on you (answering the question with my own agenda and ignoring what you said).

I haven't tried pickling anything yet, so it's tempting, but I think I'm going to leave figuring out that particular process to next year. Today I'm going to try a bean and pepper salad I've been contemplating in the back of my mind, and then I think I'm going to try freezing some of the peppers. I keep reading different things about how to freeze them, so I think I'll try a couple different ways.

So many things to respond to here.

The muffin picture is, indeed, lovely. It's funny that you commented on the lack of reference for the size of the cookies in the cookie photo because as soon as you said it made fifty cookies, I thought, "Yeah, but how big are they?" I mean, I made one of my favorite chocoate chip cookie reipes last night, which yields about 12 cookies. The size of the cookies would explain that if I had a photo, which I don't, on account of the way they've all already been eaten.

This is kind of on-and-off topic, but I find myself with a serious plethora of hot peppers. We're talking maybe 30-40 of them, and they're HOT. What oh what should I do with them? I've been making some things, but I'm only using 1-2 peppers per recipe.
